What is the SolarEdge DC Optimized Inverter Solution?

The SolarEdge solution uses the same cables, connectors and methods used in traditional string inverter systems, but is able to install more panels to combine long strings with short strings, and to install panels on different facets of the roof, compared to traditional systems which has significant drawbacks.

Can I install StorEdge for my exisiting system if I don't have SolarEdge products already?

Yes, StorEdge is compatible with high voltage LG Chem RESU batteries, as well as 48V batteries supplied by multiple battery vendors. Though, to benefit from full system monitoring of consumption, self-consumption and inverter production, a SolarEdge energy meter must be connected.

What is the difference between grid-tied and off-grid solar energy systems?

Grid-tied solar energy is when the PV system is connected to the utility grid and the electricity it generates is fed into the grid. Off-grid solar energy is when the energy is either used immediately or stored onsite for later use, but it is not fed into the grid.

What are the different types of inverters?

There are three basic types of inverters: basic string inverters, micro-inverters, and DC optimised inverters - string inverters were the industry standard for residential solar energy systems until recently. Micro-inverters are shrunken down inverters and placed behind each panel. DC-optimized inverters were introduced to the market less than 10-years ago and are quickly becoming the new industry standard.

Can I add a battery to my current system for increased self-consumption or backup?

Yes, since the inverter manages your energy, it is important to install an inverter that can support a battery.
